Our Commitment to In-Person Instruction
Dear Walla Walla Catholic Schools community,
In light of the recent statement from the Walla Walla Public Schools regarding an intent to begin the year remotely, I would like to take a moment to update our Catholic schools community on our current plans and intentions.
Our intention is still to open for full-time, in-person education. We have additional guidelines from the state that we will be implementing to ensure a safe and sustainable in-person learning experience.
However, recognizing the uncertainty of the situation, our faculty are working to finalize contingency plans for remote learning should we need to pivot to this per state directive. These plans will be in accordance with the
Principles for Remote Learning released on Monday. We intend on finalizing our remote learning contingency plans on Monday, August 10, 2020.
Finally, in regards to the question of running two concurrent educational experiences—remote and in-person—we have, unfortunately, concluded that Walla Walla Catholic Schools does not have adequate resources to offer a concurrent model to the level of our standards.
We respect the individual family decisions that must be made during this difficult time. Should you need to opt-out of in-person learning, we invite you to remain a part of our Catholic community and will be establishing activities and means to facilitate that.
Through the intercession of St. Francis DeSales and Our Lady Assumed into Heaven,
-Father Curtis Seidel
President of Walla Walla Catholic Schools
