Dear Walla Walla Catholic School families,
Remember that Senior Night is tonight! Our graduating student athletes will be recognized before the varsity basketball games this evening, so please consider coming to support our seniors! Take a look at the Irish Athletics Update below for more information. Please also remember that Memorial Day Weekend is this weekend, and so
schools will be closed on Monday, May 31.
Finally, we would like to invite our parents grades 7-12 to join us for the DeSales Academic Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 3 at 1:00 PM in the DeSales gym! There will be plenty of room for everyone in the gym to stay safely distanced and comfortable.
Assumption Staffing Announcements
for 2021-2022 School Year
As we look forward to the end of the school year, we have also begun our preparations for next year. At Assumption, the teaching assignments for the 2021-22 school year will be:
Kindergarten: Mrs. Acock
First grade: Mrs. Williams
Second grade: Ms. Shields
Third grade: Mrs. Leahy
Fourth grade: Mrs. Jimenez
Fifth Grade: Mrs. Wood
Sixth grade: Mrs. Brinson
Music: Mrs. Gogl
Physical Education: Mrs. Taylor
At DeSales, we are currently filling some part-time positions and will release the projected teachers within the next couple of weeks.
Planning for Next Year
Both Assumption and DeSales staff have been meeting for planning sessions regarding next school year. The planning has focused on continuing the things we do well for our students and families, identifying areas in which we can improve, and developing foundational frameworks in the following categories:
School Environment and Culture
Student life and Activities
The projected Advanced Placement teachers at DeSales have been meeting with the projected students in AP classes to review expectations for any summer work and classes next year.
DeSales teachers have also completed new syllabi for their classes next year which will be placed on
within the next few weeks.
Next year, both Assumption and DeSales will be moving to pilot a K-12 accreditation program through Western Catholic Education Association. Previously, our schools have completed a separate accreditation process at different times. The move to the K-12 accreditation program aligns us more closely with the united mission and vision of our WWCS system. The process will also pilot the use of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS). This will include an evaluative and reflective process for our staff and school community during the 2021-2022 School year.
Our work over the next year will lead to the development of a school improvement plan. During the spring of 2023 there will be a formal visit by a team of Catholic School Educators and Administrators. This team will review our plan and the work we have accomplished, while also experiencing our school community over a 3-day period. We are excited to begin this process as an opportunity to continue enhancing WWCS.
