Dear Walla Walla Catholic School families,
May is here, and Our Lady has been crowned! Next week is Spring Spirit week at DeSales! This means that fun activities will be happening throughout the week for our students, and we will also be having dress up days! Please be aware of the following dress up days next week for all students grades 7-12:
Monday, May 10 -
Tuesday, May 11 -
Nice Dress Day
Wednesday, May 12 -
Thursday, May 13 -
Friday, May 14 -
Spirit Day (Green and Gold)
From the May Crowning at DeSales yesterday.
Saturday, May 15
Normally during the Spring, DeSales would organize a Prom dance for our students' enjoyment. However, out of caution regarding COVID-19 policies, we are unable to sponsor such an event this school year.
That being said, the Hassler/Gillespie family and the Jones family have chosen to sponsor a private “Prom 2021” event on Saturday, May 15, in hopes of providing a more traditional experience for students grades 9-12.
To be clear, this event is not sponsored, organized, promoted, nor chaperoned by DeSales High School or by Walla Walla Catholic Schools.
We respect the right of parents to make their own decisions regarding the involvement of their student or students in this event.
It is with both sadness and joy that we announce two of our Faculty at DeSales will not be returning for the 2021-22 school year: Mr. Tim Blair and Mr. Brian Elliot.
Mr. Blair has been with us for the past two years providing individualized instruction to students as well as teaching the Northwest History course this year. Mr. Blair has decided to retire, and he will be greatly missed by both his students and colleagues.
Mr. Elliot has served as our art teacher for both middle school and high school this year. He has chosen to pursue graduate studies next year and will be moving to Portland for his schooling.
Mr. Tim Blair
Mr. Brian Elliot
It has been a special blessing for all of us at the WWCS to have both of these men as part of our community. We are grateful for their efforts and for their tremendous impact on our students' lives.
Let us pray that God blesses them both in their future endeavors!

French Offered at DeSales Next Year
Through the generosity of one of our donors, we are excited to announce that we will be offering a French class for DeSales students starting Fall semester of the 2021-22 school year. We are actively pursing candidates to fill this part-time teaching position, as seen above. Our plan for the 2022-23 school year is to offer 1st and 2nd year French.
As our athletes finish up the Spring Sports season, we are excited to be able to enter into the WIAA Season 3: Winter Sports. The basketball and cheer teams started practicing this week and will begin games starting Friday, May 14. You can view the 2021 basketball schedule by clicking the button below.
At this time our gym meets the necessary space requirements to allow open attendance for our home games as long as we are able to follow mask mandates and health screen fans upon entry. Some of the facilities we will be traveling to for games are smaller and thus will have fan limits. Coaches will work with players and parents on a fan list for away sites that have restrictions on attendance numbers.
We look forward to the start of the season and are excited to see you all at Irish Basketball games!

Mr. Hazeltine Featured on CNAA Podcast
Recently, our own Mr. Hazeltine was interviewed by the Catholic National Athletic Association podcast regarding the unique challenges involved with running an athletic program at a Catholic school during a pandemic. If you would like to listen to that interview,
